Orientation cum Graduation Day for MKA Obedience Class Students

Pre-novice students listening to briefing

Great chance for dogs and owners to socialise on June 11th as the turn out was excellent.

There were a number of non-pedigree dog owners who gladly entered their beloved dogs for training as well!

Students lined up in an organized fashion prior to the start of the graduation event. It seems everyone is starting to like this place!

After 2 weeks of "semester break" since the CGC test held on 21st May, MKA dog obedience trainers and students are eagerly ready to get back into action.

It was graduation day for students that passed the 35th MKA Obedience Class Canine Good Citizen Test (and also pre-novice and novice class students who passed the mock trial). It was obvious that owners took this prestigious event very seriously as dogs were seen donning graduation hats and wearing colourful bowties! Family and friends were busy taking photo of their dogs, posing with the Canine Good Citizen certificate and pewter medal. In short, everyone was a proud owner that day.

In a way, the scene was very similar to a university convocation!

June 11th was not only graduation day - it was also orientation day for our new batch of students. Everyone seemingly get acquainted very quickly (perhaps all dog lovers are nice people...). Even the dogs made friends as well - it was a great socialisation opportunity for everyone.

The event started off with all students (the graduates and new trainees) being ushered into the widely fenced training area. Our National Obedience Chairman, Mr Paul Chan, officially began the event by giving students a short speech - he urged that students should aspire to train their dogs in a higher level to truly enjoy and participate in addicitive dog sports such as dog obedience trials and agility. MKA trainers were then introduced to the students.

It was then time to hand out certificates and medals to graduates. Owners came out with their dogs and proudly receive the reward of their hardwork throughout the 10 weeks training course. Some have decided to take their dog to a higher level and have registered for pre-novice/novice level to train their dogs advanced commands.

Upon giving out the certificates, a demonstration session was presented by 3 pre-novice level students. The dogs performed brilliantly and have certainly set a good benchmark for new students to follow. After the entertaining performance, students were sorted according to their classes to receive briefing from their respective MKA trainers.

The 1st class will begin on 18th of June. There will be 2 training sessions (4pm-5pm, 5pm-6pm). Students are required to come to class according to their assigned training session. Do not forget the things to bring:

1. Plastic bag to pick up after your dog
2. Check chain
3. 6 feet leash
4. Water for dog (don't forget the bowl!)
5. Owners should wear good sport shoes
